THE GEOSITES OF PSILORITIS<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The monuments of the Earth and the geosites of Psiloritis are scattered throughout the entire area of the mountain. They include unique rock formations, fossil sites, impressive landforms, caves and other karstic features, folds and faults in the rocks, water appearances of great importance\" for the natural environment, and elements of interaction between humans and the rocky terrain. Together, they compose the story of Earth and
humanity in Psiloritis.<\/p>

Many of these geosites are located near one another and, when explored in combination, can reconstruct small segments of the mountain\u2019s geological history. Others share similar geological and natural features, complementing one another to create a complete thematic image of the mountain. For these reasons\u2014and to facilitate their promotion\u2014many geosites have been grouped into specific sub-regions.<\/p>

Thus, the following sub-regions have been defined: Talea Ori Section: A 250-million-year journey into the past, in the Kouloukonas mountain range, Psiloritis Karstic Landscapes, in the mountainous zone of the mountain, From the Mountain to the Plain, encompassing the eastern and southern foothills of the mountain, Amari Cliffs, in the homonymous valley and Speleopark, including the most important caves of Psiloritis.\nThere are also individual geosites that, for various reasons, have not been included in any of these sub-regions and are presented as standalone formations.<\/p>

The following presentation of the most important geosites of the Psiloritis Natural Park follows the above subdivision. Most of these geosites are accessible via the existing road network, others only via mountain trails, and some are connected to a network of walking routes. In many of the sites, informative signage has been or will be installed by the Natural Park or other local stakeholders.<\/p>
