VISIT OF PERIPLUS WORKSHOPS AND NEW COLLABORATION WITH THE PSILORITIS UNESCO GLOBAL GEOPARK<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

During an intensive three-day programme of meetings and exchanges with local communities, the Periplus Workshops, together with the Psiloritis UNESCO Global Geopark, launched a promising collaboration aimed at creatively re-approaching the tangible cultural heritage of our Geopark.<\/div>
\u00a0<\/div>
From 28 to 30 April, we welcomed Mr. Dimitrios Skourogiannis and Ms. Elina Symigdala of the Periplus Workshops and toured areas of the Municipalities of Anogeia, Malevizi and Mylopotamos. We engaged with local representatives: municipal authorities, active cultural associations, educators, social cooperatives and NGOs in the cultural sector, businesses in agriculture and processing, producer groups, cooperatives, and we visited local museums and monuments to document folklore material.<\/div>

\"\"\u00a0\u00a0\"\"\u00a0\"\"\u00a0\"\"

The aim of the Periplus Workshops is to bring to regions rich in traditions and customs, combined with unique natural wealth, an open and multidirectional creative re-approach to tangible cultural heritage. Through short but intensive field research, they seek promising new pathways for future development. Using the lens of contemporary design, circular economy practices are innovatively addressed and folklore traditions resourcefully reinterpreted. They pursue close collaboration with communities through re-approached craft techniques, with material treasures hidden in local nature or among neglected agricultural by-products. Their ultimate goal is to find solutions and inventive approaches that can open new sustainable opportunities for local societies.

In the summer of 2026, a two-week field workshop will be held in a selected area of the Geopark to apply these goals, while new meetings are planned for this autumn with the remaining municipalities of the Geopark.<\/div>
