Flavors of Psiloritis: Traditional Cuisine and Local Specialties

In the local tavernas, you will find delicious dishes of traditional Cretan cuisineDepending on the village, there may be some variations. In Anogeia (as in other livestock-based villages), we don’t recommend asking for seafood! Instead, you can enjoy antikristo, a special way of roasting meat. For fresh fish, head to Zaros, where trout farming is practiced.
Everywhere you go, you can enjoy seasonal vegetable salads, wild greens, traditional local sweets, fruits, and of course plenty of good wine and tsikoudia!
