European Geoparks Network

The European Geoparks Network  currently consists of 98 territories that work together to preserve and highlight their geological heritage through integrated actions for the sustainable development of their regions. The Network was created with the aim of protecting, promoting, and showcasing not only the geological but also the natural and cultural heritage of Europe’s rural areas, by developing and promoting educational and geotourism activities of high quality standards.

Members are evaluated every four years by experts from the Network and other international organisations to ensure that each region maintains high-quality standards. All Network members are recognised as UNESCO Global Geoparks.
