Environmental Education Centre of Anogeia

The The Environmental Education Centre of Anogeia (KPE Anogeion) has been operating since 2006 under the Ministry of National Education and Religious Affairs and is housed in the Study Centre of the National Youth Foundation in the Anogeia Department.
The main educational activities of the Centre are:

• Raising awareness among young people on environmental issues in order to cultivate responsible and participatory behaviour that contributes to the protection of ecological balance and the quality of life in line with the principles of sustainable development.
• Designing and implementing various programmes for schools. These programmes are attended by groups of primary and secondary school students from Crete and other regions of Greece
• Organising educational seminars for primary and secondary school teachers.
• Supporting environmental education programmes in schools.
• Producing educational material on the environment
• Engaging with scientific institutions at local, national, and international levels for further information, research, and documentation of educational programmes.
• Training various social groups from the local community.
• Participating in local initiatives organised by authorities and other social actors concerned with environmental and sustainable development issues
• Lastly, implementing educational activities related to the Psiloritis Geopark

The KPE of Anogeia carries out a wide range of educational programmes, both outdoors and indoors. It offers accommodation and catering services for approximately 60 participants during its educational activities and provides laboratory spaces and classrooms for indoor education.
